Each pair of earrings spent significant time in the hands of a woman in rural Rwanda. Just one pair of earrings takes about three hours to weave! She weaves from her home or group workshop, integrating her craft with all the demands of running a home. If you were to sit with the weaver of your earrings, you might enjoy chatting, laughing together, giving attention to the kids, sharing tips and news, and maybe even some singing.
About the artisan: The women of the Abarikumwe Association are remarkable, delightful, and visionary. The group began in 2006 through the contagious determination of two neighbors, Yusta and Christine. These women were tired of weaving alone and selling their crafts for a fraction of their worth. They set their minds to inviting other women to come together, to learn together, to earn together. Over the past ten years, the group has grown in strength and determination. Weaving together once a week in a parish chapel, the women have exchanged skills and generated creative ideas for designing new products, managing daily stresses, and reaching out to their community.

Economy orders, shipped via UPS Ground or USPS Ground Advantage, typically arrive in 1-5 business days based on destination. Express orders are sent via UPS Next Day Air and arrive within 1-2 business days.
Domestic economy shipping is free on orders over $100.
Returns:
We accept exchanges and returns, free of charge, within 30 days of the delivery date. Regular-priced items can be returned for store credit or exchange.
Any merchandise marked “sale” or “final sale” cannot be returned and are ineligible for exchange or store credit. This includes all jewelry (unless damaged), beauty, lingerie, swimwear, hats, and hair accessories. Items bought with store credit are final sale.
